Marie keller

Board Member

Marie moved to Malibu with her husband, Rob, at the beginning of the pandemic. They were seeking some respite from the city and fell in love with the area.

Marie has been a Marriage and Family therapist for forty years. She received a BA from UCLA in Psychology, an MA from CSUN, and a PhD from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria.

Marie worked extensively with people who identified as trans and non-binary and their families. She founded a center and trained mental health interns. Before there was more information available to HR departments, Marie provided education and training for companies with transitioning individuals. She educated employees at shelters and trained therapists in mental health agencies. She advocated for safe and accessible healthcare for the trans community. She taught Human Sexuality to graduate students at Antioch University, as well as, provided numerous workshops for health providers.

Currently, Marie is semi-retired with a small private practice. She likes to bird watch with her dog, Maeve, at Legacy Park and Malibu Lagoon. She volunteers as a docent for school children at the Getty Villa.

Marie’s mother was a life long volunteer. She fed the hungry at food banks and ministered to the dying as a hospice volunteer. She volunteered at the voting polls, was an advocate for justice, and instilled a sense of duty in her children.

If there was ever a time to emulate her, to fight for our democracy, and to advocate for a more equitable society and a world based on order and dedicated to peace, this is the moment.
